What this means for your project

An AI task receives more than a prompt: it also uses tool descriptions, retrieved material, conversation history and intermediate results. Together these form its context. Longer prompts do not automatically fix outdated data, incorrect permissions or conflicting sources.

Work with business, data and engineering owners to check sources, valid versions, access and relevance. When shortening history, retain decision evidence and unfinished work. An unverified model summary is still not a fact.

For long-running tasks, check recovery and isolation separately for session records, the execution loop and the runtime. A vendor’s managed architecture is one implementation reference, not a requirement to use the same product in every project.

Start with a simple workflow you can test. Let agents take more actions only when the benefits justify the extra cost and control work.

Apply it in your project

Choose a task you are working on and check whether the approach applies. Record what to investigate, which step might change, who handles it and when to review. If you have no live project, use a practice case.
